Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (85/15)
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp brown sugar (optional)
- 2 tbsp cold water
- Combine sage, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, paprika, red pepper flakes, and brown sugar (if using) in a small bowl.
- Add the ground beef and cold water to a large bowl along with the seasoning mix. Mix with your hands just until combined, don't overwork it.
- Divide into 6 to 8 portions and shape into patties about ½ inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 3 to 4 minutes per side, until well browned.
- Check with a food thermometer, patties are done at 160°F internally.
